Merrimack Valley Credit Union’s (MVCU) Vice President of Retail Banking James C. Potter is featured in the latest episode of the Credit Union Times podcast, “The Shared Accounts with CU Times.” The episode was released on the publication’s website on Friday, Feb. 16.
Credit Union Times is an independent credit union publication that offers credit union leaders “strategic and tactical information necessary to run their institutions and better serve members,” according to the company’s website.
The Shared Accounts with the CU Times podcast, hosted by editor-in-chief Michael Ogden, began in January 2024 and focuses on credit union branches and strategies through conversations with experts in the field.
During the episode, Ogden and Potter discussed Potter’s extensive history in the credit union industry and his priorities in his new role as vice president of retail banking. Potter reflected on his time as a branch manager and compared it to his current role, and the personal and ever-changing relationship that credit union members have with their branches.
Potter joined MVCU at the end of 2023 and oversees the credit union’s branch network throughout New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and its member support team. His career in banking spans more than 35 years.
“I am drawn to Retail Banking because of its strong focus on relationship-building and the empowerment of team members and credit union members as they work together to improve the financial wellbeing of our communities,” Potter says. “It was wonderful to get to speak about this in-depth with [Ogden] on his new podcast.”
